ScrapHappy June 2023 — Scrappy Progress

Back in March, I treated myself to a long session of turning blue- and cream-colored scraps into big scrappy blocks for Sharon Tucker’s “String Theory” (from the April 2017 American Patchwork and Quilting).  This month I completed seven more blocks, and got the top stitched together!

A quilt top, based onSharon Tucker’s “String Theory”, in blue and cream.

If you want to see how these blocks go together, you can find more details in my March post.  I have also made the blocks in red and yellow, as was the one in the magazine article, but I have not stitched those together yet.

Now I have moved on and am stitching up a set of the blocks in brown and cream.  I find that turning bits and bobs into blocks is a great stress reliever! But then the steps of basting and free motion quilting (with a domestic sewing machine) increase the stress levels again, so I postpone those steps until large blocks of time are available, and I can concentrate. 🙂

ScrapHappy Day is the 15th of each month, when we celebrate the use of scraps. Drop by and see what everyone else has created with scraps of materials and time!  Our hosts are Kate and Gun, the first two names listed below, and they would love for you to join us!  Just let them know and they will add you to the list.
