The Endeavourers’ Reveal Day — Effervescent
It is time once again for our little online art quilt group to reveal the works inspired by a theme. This quarter the theme was Effervescent, and it reminded me of the summers of my childhood, when sometimes we would get a treat of little tablets called Fizzies.Β Dropped into plain water, they turned it into colorful, bubbly beverages, that in our soda-deprived, black-and- white-TV world, were entertainment and deliciousness rolled into one.
I had so much fun pulling fabrics and trims that were reminiscent of that era, and portraying the bubbles with free-motion quilting and buttons.Β Each drink has one big button to show the Fizzie tablet, with the bubbles arising from it.
I think this little quilt would benefit from more quilting, and some touches of embroidery and textile paint, but the deadline is here so it must go out into public as it is. π

Never did get my quilts photoed for you, friend came over to help and we got waylaid with other things π¦ I’ll see what I can do.
Yes, please photograph the quilts and send me the pics! π
Oh the memories! Fizzies – I don’t know if I recall the flavors, but it was fun to watch them dissolve. My goal today is to get photos taken of my challenge quilt and get posts written. Nice work on your challenge quilt!
You and I were definitely on the same wave length on this project!
Greg and I were just remembering Fizzies the other day!
I like your use of the strawberry and lemon fabrics–especially appropriate!
I saw this assortment at a recent shop hop and knew it was perfect for what I had in mind — a lucky find!
I love your fabric choices, the quilting, and the clever bubbles. I remember those fizzies. We thought they were magical. I remember black and white TV, too, and soda was never in our house.
Thanks, Alys, I felt so lucky to find the perfect fabrics all grouped together in a little bag at a shop hop. I was glad to use them!
What a lovely idea!
What a fun piece – nice! π
That was fun! I love all the different ways you made bubbles π
Thanks, Mary!
I remember Fizzies, and enjoyed breaking them in little pieces, and putting the little piece in my mouth without the glass of water! Fun! Cute design!
That was a creative way to enjoy Fizzies! I never thought of that. π
I remember FIZZIES!!!
Such a fun summer quilt.
These are wonderful and have such a refreshing vibe. I love the fabrics you’ve chosen and the way you’ve sewn the bubbles π
