ScrapHappy January 2026 — Christmas Blocks
I wrote about these scrappy blocks in December of 2025, and now they are sewn into a quilt top. I would love to say that I cleaned out my bin of Christmas-themed fabric, but I have received three unfinished projects from other people, so now that bin is as full as ever.
I also had enough scraps for these log cabin blocks — I was thinking I would use them on the back of the quilt, but now I am thinking of turning them into their own table runner or banner. They aren’t sewn together yet; they may end up arranged differently.
Even though these projects aren’t finished, I am going to put them away until Christmas time next year. I am looking forward to working with some other colors!
ScrapHappy Day is the 15th of each month, and it goes way beyond quilting. You might see scrappy projects in knitting, crochet, woodworking, jewelry making, and even cooking!

I’m usually ready to leave Christmas colors behind by now, too. You’ve made excellent progress. I like the idea of a table runner. They’re so festive.
Hello, interesting how the fabrics make the quilt look ‘wonky’ even thought they are sewn straight. Love the log cabin pieces, yes, Next year haha Perfect/
Thistle be a beautiful day!
While there is tea there is hope!
Yes those scrappy blocks would be a lovely holiday table runner!
Very pretty quilts.
Very Pretty!
I really love the idea of a homemade Christmas quilt!
Gwen, marvelous use of scraps!❤️. And no matter how much us scrappers accomplish it seems to always be there. 😃 May your 2026 cup always runneth over🥰
These look great but I can understand why you want to work on something else. I still have half a stocking to finish knitting and, for no good reason, as soon as Christmas was over, I just had no enthusiasm for it anymore. I think it’s quite hard to go against the seasons!
