ScrapHappy April 2026

I have tons of vintage jewelry and I am always looking for ways to get it out of boxes and out where I can see it.  I have seen beautiful shadow box assemblages on YouTube and I finally created two for myself.  (I photographed them without the frame and glass.)

A pale bouquet made from ivory, mother-of-pearl, and Bakelite jewelry.

A Christmas tree made of jewelry, charms, and buttons from the 1920s through the 1980s.

I bought very basic shadow boxes, and they have a thin layer of foam under the black backing fabric. So I was able to pin or punch most of the pieces into the background.  For the others, I used glue dots that come on a roll.  If anyone ever wants to disassemble these, the jewelry should all be undamaged. This is a project that has been on my to-do list for years, and I am glad to have finally completed it!  It is fun for me to look at each piece and remember the person it came from.

ScrapHappy Day is the 15th of each month, organized by the kind Kate Chiconi.  It is a fun day to visit blogs and see what creative projects everyone has come up with!
