ScrapHappy April 2026
I have tons of vintage jewelry and I am always looking for ways to get it out of boxes and out where I can see it. I have seen beautiful shadow box assemblages on YouTube and I finally created two for myself. (I photographed them without the frame and glass.)
I bought very basic shadow boxes, and they have a thin layer of foam under the black backing fabric. So I was able to pin or punch most of the pieces into the background. For the others, I used glue dots that come on a roll. If anyone ever wants to disassemble these, the jewelry should all be undamaged. This is a project that has been on my to-do list for years, and I am glad to have finally completed it! It is fun for me to look at each piece and remember the person it came from.
ScrapHappy Day is the 15th of each month, organized by the kind Kate Chiconi. It is a fun day to visit blogs and see what creative projects everyone has come up with!

Lovely!
What a FUN use of jewelry that will never be worn again. I kept a bit
from my mom so need to go check it out and see if I could do something
along these lines.
Thanks for such a great idea!!
Best….

Thanks, Frances! I get so many good ideas from your blog that I am happy to reciprocate!
That’s such a good idea! Really pretty.
Thank you, I saw the idea on YouTube and in antique stores, and I have been wanting to put some pieces together for a long time!
Wow these are really pretty – what a great way to display your vintage jewelry!
lovely way to continuing to enjoy the memories, the framed pieces are very pretty.
Hello, Really like the Christmas tree! No small children in your neighborhood who would like to play ‘dress up’ ? I gave a lot of mine to the kiddos next door.
Thistle be a beautiful day!
While there is tea there is hope!
No on the kids in the neighborhood. I have given away tubs of Duplos and Legos but no takers on any girl stuff like jewelry, tea sets, or dolls. Plus I really love to look at all that jewelry and remember all the family members it came from. 🙂
How funny/odd, but the memories are there, like with my Grandmother’s ‘jewels’.

This is a great way to enjoy your pieces in a unique and creative way. Both shadow boxes have charm and character. I created a shadow box for a friend’s husband years ago but I’ve never had anything three-dimensional that I could use for one of my own.
Will you create more?
What genius. Because jewellery is all about the sentiment. I love this. Thanks so much for sharing
I love these. What a great way to showcase your collection.
I love this idea! Brilliant!
This is marvelous!
I’m bowled over by these! Simply gorgeous and a wonderful idea to display your jewellery, rather than keeping it hidden away in boxes 🙂
