Fresh Finds
Yesterday my husband and I spent a lovely afternoon browsing in the shops of Huntsville, Texas, and of course I managed to find a few things that really needed me to rescue them from oblivion.

This top does need some work, but after it’s quilted, I see it as a table-topper on a 50s laminate kitchen table, with all kinds of bright vintage tableware.

This top is gorgeous – all the corners meet perfectly, and the hand-pieced seams are so even. I could just bind the edges and use it like that. I’m not sure of the pattern name – the closest one I could find is called “four-four time” in Maggie Malone’s book 5500 Quilt Block Designs.
I’m not sure of the pattern names – if I’ve mislabeled any of them, I’d be happy to hear from you!
If you’re ever in the Huntsville area, I would highly recommend their antique shops – they were all clean and attractive, the shopkeepers were friendly, and the prices were pretty good too!
Those are all great finds. I really like the second one, and agree with you—something totally vintage would suit it well.
Thanks! I might have to redo the kitchen!
They’re all nice! I really like the first one.
I may never have the patience to do my own postage stamp squares, so I thought I better buy it! 🙂
When I was a little girl my grandmother made a postage stamp quilt for my doll’s bed. I really treasured it but over the years it disappeared. Perhaps one of my cousins got it. I don’t know. But, where ever it went, I hope it was loved as much as I loved it.
I bet it was appreciated wherever it went. I think everyone loves postage stamp quilts!
