Scrappy Baby Quilt Tops
Months ago, I saw this baby quilt on KatyQuilts, and I just loved it.
I loved the inclusion of gray and black into a baby quilt, and the way the colors sometimes moved from one row to the next.
She has also made this quilt in larger sizes, once in gray and “boy” colors, and once in bright turquoise and batik. And Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict has also made it with blue as the unifying color. I love them all.
I had plenty of scraps so I started piecing. Katy used charm pack squares cut in half, giving her rectangles of 2 1/2 inches by 5 inches. I used long strips and cut them the width of my ruler, so my rectangles ended up at 2 1/2 inches by 6 inches.
Now I have made three tops, with blocks for one more. I just now noticed that Katy added solid white borders all around; I will probably do that for at least one of the quilts.
The quilting will have to wait for a while, as I have a top secret baby project to work on next.
