A Perfect Christmas Eve
I’m home for a night between visits to relatives. Tonight is just a quiet night to sit by the fire and catch “Shop Around the Corner,” and then step outside to look at the stars and check on the lambs.
This old photo from my collection captures the perfect holiday mood for me. I would love to know if this is from a girls’ boarding school, or orphans’ home – and if they all got their hair bobbed at the same time!
Hope all of you have the kind of holiday you love most!
Merriest of the merries to you and your family!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I love the photo too. My grandmother had a bob just like the ones above in the 1920’s.
Would love to use this image in a book we are self publishing for our organization’s 100th.
Sure! Thank you so much for asking. I would love to know what your organization is. And do you need any more images from the 1910s or 20s? I might have a few.
Thanks so much! How would you like the photo credited?
The Kappa Phi Club was founded in 1916 at the University of Kansas. It is a national Christian women’s service organization. We currently have 25 active chapters and 24 alumnae chapters across the United States. We would use your picture on the page where it talks about the girls visiting an orphanage. We also have a Christmas tradition called the Yule Log.
My friend and I are writing a series of five books (styled after the American girl books). The books are about a Kappa Phi active at a university and her college life and what it was like to be a Kappa Phi at that time. The first is set at the University of Kansas and takes place from 1918-1923. The others are set about the 25th, 50th, 75th and 100th.
It sounds like the picture will be a perfect fit for your project! I am so glad for you to use it. I will email you to talk more about how to credit it.
