ScrapHappy June 2020
Well, it has been so long since I posted anything that I have almost forgotten how to navigate the admin menu!
Way back before the pandemic started, I was on a roll as far as piecing quilt tops. I have finally finished two of the lap quilts. The autumn-colored one is mostly from scraps, and the rainbow-colored one is all from scraps except for the gray sashing. So I figure that two mostly scrap quilts count as one complete ScrapHappy project. 🙂
Both of these lap quilts will eventually be donations to the Veterans’ Administration Hospital here in Houston.
ScrapHappy is a lovely virtual get-together hosted by Kate and Gun. We post our scrappy creations on the 15th of the month, and if you would like to join us, just let one of the hosts know1
And here is our current list of participants:
Kate, Gun, Titti, Heléne, Eva, Sue, Lynn, Lynda,
Birthe, Turid, Susan, Cathy, Tracy, Jill, Claire, Jan,
Moira, Sandra, Linda, Chris, Nancy, Alys, Kerry, Claire, Jean,
Joanne, Jon, Hayley, Dawn, Gwen (me!), Connie, Bekki, Pauline,
Sue L, Sunny, Kjerstin and Vera
They’re both gorgeous, but interestingly – and for a change – I like the more subdued colours of the autumn one. It has a lovely vintage feel, and to the eye, is more scrappy even if it’s actually a bit less!
Maybe due to all the prints. Some of the small scraps, I actually put together in 1999, and it took me this long to use them!
I have not worked with solids much, but I did like how they turned out in the rainbow one.
These are both lovely — and how wonderful that you are donating them. Well done!
Thank you! I get many of my fabrics through either direct donations, or by buying up donated fabrics at guild sales, so it seems like they need to end up in donated pieces. 🙂
Don’t worry about the admin panel. They seem to change it weekly to confuse geezers like me. Glad you got your scrap quilts done.
I know, and now they are on to this block editor thing! I can’t handle the changes!
Well done! I like them both, for different reasons. Apparently WordPress and Blogger are both messing with their users!
Oh no! I do quarterly posts on a group blog on Blogger so now I know I have changes to dread over there as well. 🙂
both quilts are lovely, I could cuddle up to the rainbow forever. So wonderful of you to donate them.
Thank you! I really like how that rainbow quilt turned out. I am always trying to use up all of my scraps, but then when I end up with something I like, it tempts me to buy more of those fabrics! So my schemes don’t always work. 🙂
Goodness knows I have plenty of scrap quilts; I’ll see if I can remember to email you before the 15th of July 😀
I emailed you some information about it! I hope you join us!
Congratulations! Your blog has been included in INTERESTING BLOGS in FRIDAY FOSSICKING at

Thank you, Chris
So glad to see your beautiful work again..
Those are some wonderful pieces!
I like them both the colours of the dull one and the pattern of the bright one! Isn’t it wonderful what things can be done with fabric combinations – absolutely endless. It is nice that both quilts are going to a place where some one will be able to choose the one they like too.
