Back to School – 1950s Style
These are two skirts that my mom wore to high school in the early 1950s. I wore them again in the 70s, often. They are very comfortable and wear like iron!

They were called crinolines like the old horsehair petticoats, but this one is actually made of nylon. It’s a full circle and was worn under the white and red skirt.
All you need is a twin set and some pearls and you could wear them today!
I’m having so much fun with all your fashion posts—and learning a lot!
Thanks, I am too. I had assumed that lots of these things were the results of careful handwork, but when I look them up in the textile textbooks of their time, I am finding out that many of them were mass-produced. I am gaining a new respect for the creativity of the designers and engineers back then!
